Would you like to learn how to configure the APC UPS SNMPv3 service? In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to configure the APC UPS SNMP version 3 feature, in order to enable a network monitor software like Zabbix to collect information remotely using the network management card of an APC UPS.

This tutorial was tested on APC UPS model SRT6KXLI also know as Smart-UPS SRT 6000.

This tutorial was tested on APC UPS model AP9631 also know as RT6000.

Tutorial APC UPS – Configure SNMPv3

First, we need to access the APC UPS web interface.

Open your browser and enter the IP address of the APC UPS.

On the login screen, use the default username and default password.

• Default Username: apc
• Default Password: apc

After a successful login, you will be sent to the APC UPS Dashboard.

On the Web interface, access the Configuration menu and select the following option:

apc ups identification

Configure the desired identification information an click on the Apply button.

Now, you need to enable the SNMP service on the APC UPS.

To enable the SNMP service, you need to access the following menu option:

apc ups snmpv3 access

Select the checkbox and click on the Apply button.

On the Web interface, access the Configuration menu and select the following option:

apc snmp user profile

Now, you need to set an SNMP user account that will be authorized to access the SNMP service.

apc ups snmp privacy

Select the account named: APC SNMP PROFILE1

Set the SNMPv3 username.

Set the password to authenticate the user account.

Set the privacy password to encrypt the connection.

Select the authentication protocol: SHA

Select the privacy protocol: AES

On the Web interface, access the Configuration menu and select the following option:

apc ups snmpv3 access control

Now, you need to set an SNMP user account that will be authorized to access the SNMP service.

apc ups snmp user

You have successfully enabled the APC SNMPv3 service.

You have successfully configured an SNMPv3 user account.

To test your SNMP3 configuration, use the following commands on a computer running Ubuntu Linux.
